Africa holds the resources. The value has to stay in Africa.
About 30% of the world’s mineral reserves lie in Africa, and minerals account for roughly 70% of total African exports. Yet most of that wealth still leaves the continent as raw material, and the jobs, industry and tax revenue it creates are built somewhere else.
The Congress of Africa’s Mineral Resources Development exists to change that. CAMRED is a continental platform connecting governments, the African Union, the private sector, financial institutions, development partners, technology leaders, women and youth, and artisanal and small-scale miners around a single objective: converting Africa’s mineral endowment into sustainable African value, industry and prosperity.
CAMRED III is the third edition, and it is deliberately built to end in commitments rather than communiqués: bankable projects put in front of investors, ministers and companies in the same room, and a continental roadmap carried forward as the Cairo Call for Value, Jobs and Prosperity.
Congress theme
Fostering Mineral Development, Local Content and Value Addition to realize Africa’s Agenda 2063, the SDGs and the Africa Mining Vision.
USD 30 billion
a year in government revenue that Africa’s extractive resources could contribute over the next two decades, on AfDB estimates.
28%
of African GDP already comes from minerals, before any beneficiation.
What CAMRED works toward
Seven strategic priorities shape the programme, the panels and the partnerships CAMRED III sets out to build.
